- Project descriptionThe project aims to contribute to climate change mitigation through improving forest management, for both a reduction in emissions from deforestation and an increase in forest carbon storage potential, while enhancing adaptation and resilience to climate change effects on forest ecosystems. The project has three components: - Carbon monitoring capacity building in local communities; - Pilot projects to increase carbon stocks (by financing forestry and agroforestry activities under sustainable forest management); - Institutional capacity building. The pilot projects aim to generate lessons in order to help the National Forestry Commission (Comisión Nacional Forestal, CONAFOR) scale up to the regional and national levels.
