  • Project description
The proposed Afforestation Project RA concerns the afforestation of bush and grassland in the ranch “Rio Aquidaban” / Paraguay. The total afforestation area included in the project is 580 hectares (ha) out of a total surface of 650 ha. The specific purposes of the RA project are: - Sequestration of CO2 - Conservation of biodiversity and improving the economic value of the remaining natural forest and woodland through ecological reconstruction (enrichment planting) employing suitable native tree species. - Sustainable production of high value and general purpose sawn timber by planting and tending conifer and broad leaved fast growing tree species. - To utilize the existing biomass (and those to come out of new planting) resources to produce energy in the form of charcoal and wood chips. The project also appears to be considering pursuit of FSC certification.
