Project description
To combat the growing threat of climate change, Friends of Calakmul aims to project the forest areas of the Selva Maya by signing conservation agreements, thereby reducing logging and burning in these forests. The project is implementing activities that have the potential to generate carbon credits, which could be sold to provide financing for the project activities, as well as to provide valuable income streams to families. These project activities include the reduction of deforestation and degradation from logging by securing conservation agreements that provide alternative incomes and social programs to the Ejidos.
