- Project descriptionIn 2007 and 2008 the Aberdare Range / Mt. Kenya Small Scale Reforestation Initiative will reforest degraded forest lands in the Aberdare Range and Mt. Kenya Regions. Lands chosen are in the catchment areas of the Tana River within the Aberdare and Mt. Kenya Reserve Forests (gazetted). They will be reforested using a mix of fast, medium and slow growing indigenous species. The project is operated by Green Belt Movement (GBM) on behalf of Community Forest Associations (CFAs) in association with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Kenya Forest Service (KFS).The purpose of the proposed activity is to reforest environmentally sensitive lands in the catchment areas of the Tana River within the Aberdare and Mt. Kenya Reserve Forests.
