    The overall objectives of the project are to introduce participatory processes in decision making on the sustainable use of natural resources that contribute to the reduction of rural poverty in the Western Area Peninsula (WAP) and to conserve and sustainably manage the Sierra Leonean Western Area Peninsula Forest Reserve (WAPFoR) and its watershed. Another important objective is to protect the Guma Valley and the Congo Dam, which supply water to the entire population of Freetown (approx. 2 million people).
