  • Project description
The REDD+ Community Carbon Pools Programme aims to: - Develop national REDD+ policies that strengthen community participation and the role of local governments in forest management. - Develop sub-national REDD+ procedures and regulations in four pilot sites with active civil society participation. - Establish Community Carbon Pools, with benefit sharing mechanisms, based on community forest tenure in four pilot sites. - Ensure that High Conservation Value Forests (HCVF) are protected in pilot project landscapes. In the Philippines, the project area covers 34 villages, across an area of approximately 164,000 ha. A major watershed, this site is home to 20 threatened fauna and several critically endangered tree species. The Asia-Pacific Community Carbon Pools and REDD+ Programme’s Philippines team works with civil society groups in promoting a legal framework based on community tenure as the foundation for REDD+ in the country.
