  The project aims to reduce poverty in the region and to increase forest cover. It will also serve as a project pilot to develop REDD+ projects in the future. The objective is to increase the capacity of stakeholders to develop REDD and carbon fund management strategies. It will gather information by (i) mapping the forest area, (ii) definiting the drivers of forest land change, and (iii) assessing the institutional context. Stakeholders will be trained and ultimately, project outcomes will be evaluated at community level in the area.
