    The programme aims to protect intact forest landscapes, conserve biodiversity, in order to alleviate rural poverty and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through avoided deforestation and degradation in Lao PDR. It aims to demonstrate pathways for implementation of sustainable financing by linking local conservation contracts to REDD+ funds. It follows the jurisdictional REDD+ approach and intends to support selected provinces to establish provincial REDD+ programmes.
