  • Project description
The project aims to protect the forest and biodiversity of one of the last remaining blocks of Upper Guinean Forest, maintaining the integrity of a key forest corridor, whilst also supporting local people to participate in and benefit from this effort. Central to achieving this aim is the establishment of an operational REDD+ pilot that supports rural livelihoods and strengthens forest governance, resulting in significant reductions in deforestation, and driving the realisation of national REDD+ policy frameworks. Key interventions include conservation agriculture programme to increase productivity of agricultural land; establishing framework and capacity for PA co-management, ensuring effective governance of the forest resource; and establishing long-term sustainable finance flows and community benefits through access to carbon markets.
