  The Lanao del Sur Bamboo Reforestation Project is a carbon financed landscape scale restoration project in the province of Lanao del Sur, on the island of Mindanao, Philippines. The project area covers 8,421 hectares of degraded montane landscapes. Project activities target the planting of 2.5 million clumps of native species of sympodial bamboo over a 3-4 year period. Bamboo reforestation activities are combined with the additional planting of 1 million trees of native species on areas not eligible for carbon accreditation, creating a biodiverse and holistic landscape. The project area has been chosen due to its importance as a watershed for neighboring provinces which rely on it for food production, while representing an area that has historically received little development.
