The project aims to work closely with local population to replant more than 16 million mangroves in degraded areas. Through mangrove plantations, the project will help to reduce the breaching of the raised embankments and protect farmland, homes, and livelihoods from damaging tidal waves and floods. Restored mangrove ecosystems act as a nursery and feeding ground for fish, molluscs and crustaceans, which will bring additional economic and nutritional value to the communities.
